Custom Commissions
Beyond my core collection, I partner directly with interior designers, architects, and private clients to bring highly specific, large-scale visions to life. Creating, designing, and joining every piece by hand in my workshop means I can only accept a limited number of custom commissions each year. This intentional pace ensures that every project receives focused attention and absolute precision from the initial lumber selection to the final hand-applied finish.

The Details Matter
A custom build is defined entirely by the details that often go unnoticed at a glance. It is what separates a standard project from something far more enduring. True craftsmanship lives in how the wood grain flows continuously across a drawer front, how a hidden joint is executed for lifelong structural integrity, and how the underside bevel of a tabletop feels to the touch. I think about every surface, proportion, and edge with the same intentionality, ensuring the hidden elements are built with the same integrity as the visible ones. This focus elevates a functional object into a centerpiece for your space. I bring this same exacting approach to two distinct types of custom projects: standalone heirloom furniture and fully integrated elements.
The Commission Process
1. Concept & Feasibility Review
Our collaboration starts with an analysis of your project goals. You submit your project location, rough dimensions, space constraints, design inspiration, a target budget range, and any time-frame requirements. I evaluate the scope against your target investment and schedule, ensure the design is structurally feasible, and review my current shop calendar for availability.
2. Deposit & Project Scheduling
Once we agree on the initial scope, a 50% deposit secures your position on my production calendar. This commitment officially kicks off the project, funding the technical design phase and the material acquisition for your build.
3. Design, Drafting & Material Sourcing
With your spot reserved, I begin the technical phase. I develop detailed drawings to finalize joinery layouts, grain direction, and edge profiles. Simultaneously, I source and hand-select the specific hardwood required for your project.
4. Handcrafted Build & Progress Updates
I build your piece entirely from scratch in my Southern California workshop. Throughout the construction phase, I document the process, sharing milestone photos with you as the wood transforms into its final form.
5. Final Detailing & Finishing
Once the physical construction is complete, I sand and apply a premium multi-coat oil and wax finish. This hand-applied process ensures a durable, matte sheen that protects the wood while letting its natural character breathe.
6. Delivery & Installation Arrangements
Upon completion and receipt of the remaining balance, we coordinate logistics. For standalone furniture, I arrange secure, white-glove freight shipping or local delivery. For built-ins and custom shelving, I finalize the arrangements for local delivery and on-site integration.
